How do you replace the diode for the interior dome light?

Dome light doesn't work when door is opened, but works when pushing the light. I was told that this is a common problem, and usually is problem with the diode needing replaced. I thought the diode was on the driver side kick panel (close to the fuse area), but can't locate. Any assistance appreciated.
