i had a mechinic change timing belt and spark plugs and wires and no start.it turns over but wont fire. he said each cylinder has 180 lbs. of compression

Its easy to damage the crankshaft position sensor it is right at the crank pulley and is exposed when replacing the crankshaft oil seal (done as part of a timing belt change). Has the engine got spark and fuel? Kia as a car manufacturer put a lot of great technical information and work shop manuals on line for free for Kia owners. www.kiatechinfo.com . found that the stator behind the harmonic balancer let loose the dowel pins that hold it togather sheared and was just spinning could never find itself
