Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! On your 2003 Kia Sedona, the **immobilizer module** is usually located behind the dashboard, near the steering column, or integrated into the key cylinder area. It works with the ignition and the transponder chip in your key to allow or block engine start. If your van starts intermittently, the immobilizer might not be recognizing the key due to a weak key transponder, a wiring issue, or even a failing immobilizer module. Before tearing into the dash, try using a backup key (if you have one), as worn keys can cause this. If the problem persists, a technician with access to immobilizer diagnostics can pinpoint the issue—don’t guess too much, as this system can be touchy to troubleshoot without the right tools.
