Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. Shaking, flashing check engine light, and your Rio shutting off on its own? It sounds like you are dealing with a serious misfire! A flashing check engine light indicates the misfire could cause damage to the catalytic converter. Common causes of misfires include faulty spark plugs, ignition coils, or fuel injectors. It could also be due to a vacuum leak or mechanical problems with the engine. The next step in diagnosing the issue is having your vehicle scanned to see what trouble codes are present. The tricky thing about this is that driving the vehicle with a flashing check engine light can damage other components. I recommend having the vehicle towed to a reputable shop for further diagnosis. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
