What happens when it jumps time

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. I do not see any reason the engine would jump time from running out of gas. It could be that then engine will take some "priming" of fuel to the engine to get the vehicle started again. A measure of fuel pressure and delivery at the engine is a good initial test.
