i have two lights that will not come on ,on the dashboard

one is the check engine light and the other is a picture of a car with a key in the middle,when i put my key in and turn it to the on not starting the car ,i have replaced the fuse and replaced the dashboard light.i look real good and seen no wires cut.please help
