Rear high mount lamp (replace bulb) how to access

I have to give you a general answer, most mechanics would look for a little notch to pry up on and pop the cover off, or there could be a couple screws underneath. I'd guess it simply pops off and reveals the bulb. The answer may be in the owner's manual, or in a shop manual. You may be able to access a shop manual for your car on the AutoZone website if you register online.

There are two screws. That I was able to figure out. But how to get the apperatice out of the hole it is in, well that is another problem. There is something in the way and I cant get it out. Got it to almost come out but there is a white plastic thing in the way I cant figure out what it is. There is no room to see in there. Anyone else have any suggestions
