Is it safe to use soap/water to clean engine cover?

The disappointing truth is that you can do very little to prevent rodent intrusion - except for maybe getting a cat to hang out near your car! Truth -- it helps! Cayenne, sprays, all kinds of supposed remedies...they all may have some value but they typically have limited success. You can clean under the hood, but utilize a rubber glove and mask to prevent breathing in any rodent droppings and debris. Also wipe -- do not spray water and soap. So much can be negatively affected by water directly sprayed on the engine and components. Try to park in a different location perhaps?
