Even if you provide direct power to the pump, it still might not work properly. But, also - it could be that fuel delivery is not the problem at all. Ignition spark, fuel delivery, proper air via the intake manifold - all essential to vehicle starting. Hands on testing is needed to determine what is missing that is needed to start the vehicle. Also, any anti-theft intervention can influence this - best to ensure a proper programmed key is present to start the vehicle as well.
