Hello, if the engine light is on and flashing, there are likely engine misfire codes stored in the memory of the engine's processor. These codes should be addressed and the misfiring must be resolved prior to driving the vehicle further, as you can damage additional components if you continue driving. As a side note, the "CPS" (do you mean camshaft position sensor? crankshaft possible sensor?) has nothing to do with your concern as described.
