went to get the emission test done, the car did not fail or pass due to the readiness of the test, but all is cleared except the hrt on the scanner, what is that and what is the next step to be able to pass. time is running out

Hello, I'm not sure what the 'hrt' stands for on your scanner, but the readiness monitors are just a means of the powertrain control module (PCM) testing the systems on the vehicle for emissions related faults, and saying good or not yet. These get tricky, and there is quite a it to explain, but suffice to say that the monitors will not set unless the PCM recognizes that you everything is functioning properly after going through a drive cycle. Drive cycles for different monitors can be different, but you will typically run through multiple drive cycles for different monitors every week without knowing it. This is why they tell you to go and drive it for a week before testing again. Make sure you drive like normal, highway miles will not help since the PCM is looking for patterns of driving. Lastly, if the monitor is not set, it is not monitoring, so it will not tell you when there is a fault. That being said, if there is a fault, the monitor will not set. That loop is only solved by scan testing with professional diagnostic equipment.
