Why does shut off while driving without warning it has happened on the highway.

It has happened five to six times, no warning all power goes off and then goes back on. Yesterday I was stopped at a light and it turned green and I didn't notice the car shut off I put it in park and turned it back on. Then I continued to drive and again it shut off so I pulled into a driveway put it in park turned it on and drove it to my home with no more shutting off.
