What is your question?
I have a 2011 Jeep Patriot sport 2 wheel drive and it's been giving me an ABS and a traction control light the lights come on and then go off and come on and then go off probably 10 or 15 minutes between coming on and going off each time it's been doing this for about a month now any suggestions would be great thanks so much! I thought by changing out brake pads front and back that would help it's got about 120,000 miles on it and it has brake shoes on the back and I changed out everything all the way around but I did notice on the back driver side I do have a leaking wheel cylinder I believe, didn't know if that might be the cause or not and I have not changed it yet!
How long has your 2011 Jeep Patriot had this problem?
A month-and-a-half to two months

First thing, you should replace the wheel cylinder in the rear. That can be very dangerous if fluid makes its way to the brake shoe lining. Did this problem start after you changed the brake pads? Either way at this point you need to have the abs system scanned with a diagnostic computer. It will point you in the right direction. Its most likely a wheel speed sensor issue. These can often be remedied by cleaning the sensor or worst case replacing it.
Thanks so much for replying back I will get the wheel cylinder changed and yes I had this problem before I changed out brake pads and I did take it by O'Reilly Auto Parts and they scanned it this morning and I had 2 bad wheel sensors, front right and back right!!! I bought those today and put them on and no more ABS traction control lights! I think I got it!
99.99% of the time when a ABS anti-Skid and 4wd light comes on, it is one of the wheel speed sensors, most cases it's just a connection issue, where the wire connector is rotting or dirty and the computer can't get a reading from the Wheel sensor. I had this happen to my 2011 Jeep Patriot where the lights cam on on the highway and around 30 to 40 seconds later all went out, it was raining out and it could have got a splash of water on the connector or what ever it didn't come back on so all is well. But Jeeps are known for ground wires rotting away and having bad ground.. It also could be the Wheel Hub (BERRING) there is a clip there where the sensor clips in there many times that rots away Causing the sensor to fall off, so you would have to replace the wheel HUB. People might tell you don't drive it if the lights are on , it could be dangerous because your anti-Skid and ABS is not working, i say not really true, that is a bunch of BS.. First off many cars don't even have an anit-Skid or ABS system equiped in the car so does that mean all these cars are dangerous? NO, In fact ABS can be dangerous in it self, all abs does is detect your trying to stop fast and your tires are skidding, so the ABS system basically applies the brakes for short peridots of times like only 1 second at at time kind of like if you was pumping the brakes on and off to avoid a skid, only it does it in faster pulses. How ever when ABS is activated it will increase the distance it takes to come to a full stop rather if it was not activated, because your brakes are only applying for short periods of time and therefor your braking power is reduced, where even if your wheels was locked while trying to brake it will stop faster with out the ABS activated.. So basically a very skilled driver can control and stop the vehicle a lot safer and better with out the ABS, a skilled driver can pump the brakes properly with out increasing the braking distance.. But people will say it's safer to have the ABS, well yes because most people who drive are not skilled in fact are poor drivers so ABS and ani-skid systems are for idiots who can't drive really in my opinion.. Any way so if these lights are on and you can't afford to get it repaired right away you can still drive the vehicle safely don't listen to pinheads who think otherwise, just drive safely not speed and tailgate people and you will be fine.. A wheel brake cylinder on the other hand is another thing that should be replaced right away that carries the brake fluid which is needed to stop and if you run out your brake will go to the floor with out stopping.. ABS or Anti-skid sensors and wheel speed sensors on the other hand are not a huge safety issue they only give you ABS and Anti-skid features which many cars DO NOT HAVE...
