Engine light comes on every time I fill up tank with gas

Hello, it sounds like you may have more than one concern here. A diagnostic test will provide the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) that are related to the check engine light. They could be evaporative emissions systems related - such as with a leak of vapors out of the fuel filler neck and fuel cap area. But those concerns will not cause a vehicle stall - so it doesn't really check out there. Testing will be needed to check for the cause of the light coming on -- and also for the running concern.
