Hello, it's a matter of catching it when it's doing it and monitoring engine performance when it's doing it. It could be an emissions system issue, such as a restricted EGR system. It could be a fuel delivery issue or ignition spark issue. An air intake issue. Too hard to know without performing the needed testing especially when the problem is active. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
