Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your Jeep Liberty. Based on the information I have located on this model, it does not appear that it has a manual override for the gear shift assembly itself. This model uses an electronic shift release solenoid that works in conjunction with the brake pedal when applied. If the solenoid or brake pedal position sensor is failing those can cause issues with the shifter not releasing from the park position as well as low battery voltage or even a dead or disconnected battery. On this model in order to shift manually the shift cable usually has to be disconnected in a safe manner (park brake set, wheels blocked) and then the shift lever on the transmission itself can manually be shifted. I wish I had some better news to give you on this. If you’d like to find a trusted, certified repair shop in your area, you can check here: https://repairpal.com/certified.
