Very scary, while driving or turning, while excelerating, it makes a noise and stops driving and then kicks into gear!

start with the basics and check the fluid level in the trans.
I will,thank you! But..just discovered it's a closed transmission, whatever that means. Do I have to go to the dealer just to check fluid levels??
