What is the best way to remove electronic content and shift selector on the top of transmission?

The valve body is behind the transmission pan. The transmission pan then the valve body must be removed. If you're asking this question, you probably do not have the workshop manual, the diagnostic tool needed, or other resources to safely and correctly replace a shift solenoid. I also wonder about the diagnostics -- is this really what needs to be replaced? Why does it need replaced? Sounds like a possible waste of time -- I'd strongly recommend some hands on inspections.
