Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Liberty. It sounds like the aftermarket security system could be interfering with the starting process, especially since the steering column has been tampered with and there's a loose SKIM module. The SKIM module is part of the ignition security system and works with the key's transponder chip to allow the car to start. If the system isn't correctly programmed or the aftermarket security system is still active, it could prevent the car from cranking. To fix this, I recommend ensuring that the ignition system and the SKIM module are correctly installed and programmed. If the aftermarket security system is still active, you may need to bypass or deactivate it, which can sometimes be done by disconnecting the system entirely or by reprogramming the vehicle's key and security system.
