I had new tires and brakes put on my 2002 Jeep Liberty before taking a 3 hr trip. During the trip my brake and abs light came on. so did the malfunction light. The speedometer quit working and the odometer stopped. stopped at a dealership and was told that the sensor was more than likely damaged during the the brake and tire job. Took it back to the shop that did repairs and was told that they couldnt of damaged sensor because we have drum brakes instead of disc. Everthing I have read says this could happen and doesnt say that there is a difference if the sensor is in the middle of the differential and you have drum brakes verses disc. Is the damage possible?

it is easy for people to point fingers at other peoples work. the sensor is in the diff in the center. the tires and brakes did not require them to remove or touch the sensor. the sensor is a very common failure and probably would have failed even if you did not have the work done. have the sensor replaced and move on.
