The car has been sitting all winter with the battery in it that ran before the winter. I tried to start it a week ago but the battery needed to be charged, so I charged it and tried again, it didn't work. I had a friend try and jump it and that didn't work either. When I charge it the battery gauge when the key is turned to acc is at 14, in the middle where it should be but when I try and start it it makes a whining noise and then the battery dies. Any suggestions? This is the first time this has happened.

all connections are good, what would charging it with the terminals on it do? because its at the end of my driveway. When I try and start it it makes a whining noise and then the battery dies.

noise could be alternator,take it to autozone,they will check both the battery and alternator,free.
