What causes new brake pads too smoke and seize up?

2001 jeep grand cherokee limited front brake pads diy put new pads on now driver side is seizing up and smoking passenger side is fine

Check caliper Raise front end in the air and pump brakes , then try to spin wheels. IF drivers side is not released , either remove wheel for access , or get behind it with wrench for bleed screw and open to release pressure , then see if wheel spins. IF releasing the pressure at bleed screw releases it , problem is either hose to that caliper or further back in system. (I'm assuming that pad installation was done correctly and there was no excessive wear to slides.)
