4 seasons replacement A/C clutch #47564 has 2 wires coming out of the coil red and black. The red wire has a resistor with a black wire attached to it. Where does the black wire from the resistor go. The old resistor only has a black and white wire.
How long has your 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee had this problem?
A few days

Hello, Sounds like you have the wrong part, or the part is suited for several applications. I don't like things like this, and I typically re-order or go to the dealer part.
You have purchased a universal part .. As stated - best to go with original equipment or original equipment type replacement. Without *hands-on* inspection of the part and vehicle wiring - it is going to be difficult to make helpful suggestions here online. Maybe try contacting Four Seasons. Good luck.
The clutch ‘field coil’ only needs two wires to engage the clutch plate - power and ground. Maybe you have a friend that’s pretty savvy when it comes to auto repair that’ll help out. Also make sure there isn’t another problem that caused compressor clutch failure!
That’s what I thought and was wondering if it was ok to cut off the black wire coming from the resistor I’m not sure why 2 ground wires were necessary and what the purpose of a ground wire was coming from the power source with a resistor
There are multiple applications for this part Does that mean I can omit the black wire with the resistor or just ground it to the engine or compressor
