Which engine .. 6 OR 8 cylinder ? .. Yes, it makes a difference as to possible causes/repair!
If the vehicle is running rough, its not recommended to drive until the issue is taken care of. This kind of fault can be caused by a failing ECM, a failing/shorting wiring harness/connector, or a failing injector. First place to start is by having the fuel injector checked in cylinder 3
6 cylinder
As best I can remember - on the 4.0L .. Cylinder # 3 injector connector/wiring is prone to contacting the throttle cable mounting bracket and may have caused that problem due to wire chafing .. I feel sure a 'mechanic' would have noticed that .. Do you know if # 3 cylinder has injector pulse from the wire connector when tested with a noid light? Sorry but that's the kind of information we will need to proceed... Perhaps you could ask the mechanic .. I know a trick or two that may help, even IF the # 3 injector driver circuit has failed!
What's the trick he tested it the light went off n he didn't say anything else about it but it car back on car is running good except for the jerking n misfiring
