What is your question?
Had mechanic check it out and he said all sensors were OK. Thought it was just a computer problem. Anyone else have this problem?

The problem Has nothing to do with the coolant sensor, Or for that matter anything to do with the cooling system at all, Check out Jeepforumdotcom & under "coolant sensor Bad fix" You will see that it actually has to do with crummy soldering on the back of the VIC (Vehicle Information Centre), & all that is needed to fix this problem is a bit of solder & some patience, I know this because I have changed my coolant sensor on the engine block and in the reservoir & the thermostat just to be sure & all with brand new original jeep parts not aftermarket rubbish, & all it took was a bit of solder & searching the answer on jeepforum.com
Your coolant sensor may indeed be defective or your wiring connector terminals. The sensor has certain voltage outputs according to engine temp. If the computer see's the voltage out of it's pre-programmed parameters, it will turn the warning lamp on. The Coolant sensor is inexpensive and easy to replace.(cheaper than the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Also inspect the connector terminals for spread terminals, corrosion etc. the terminals must be clean and have a secure fit.
Not really an answer just a little info. I own a 1994 grand cherokee limited 4wd 4.0 straight 6. Just bought it about 2 and a half months ago and mine as well is reading the coolant sensor bad. I knew the person i bought it off of, which came along with a full folder of service records... The person before me had it replaced twice and the warning light never went off either. I have had several mechanics look at it and two off them actually owned a jeep them selves and said they have the same problem as well but they both ensured me there was no problem, With mine or theirs. Although they really couldnt explain the electrical end of the problem, ALL FUSES WERE CHECKED under hood and in the vehicle, as well as all wiring... Nothing still. Not a clue but you are not alone. ask around im sure you will find someone with the same problem and probably no answers. Good Luck! Keep posting if you find anything more out about it. FOUND THIS ON THIS WEBSITE I have a coolant sensor bad display on my screen. I have replaced the sensor in the overflow bowl and the one on the manifold behind thermostat, but display still shows bad sensor. any ideas? thanks. Patrick Flag This the first alert said low coolant level. I changed the sensor in the overflow bowl. then about a month later, the next alert said"coolant sensor bad". I put a new sensor on the manifold, and now the bad sensor alert only comes on when I first start the truck. any other ideas? thanks. The guy I got it from told me he had replaced it. My mechanic said something about not using the right sealant or something when they put it back on might be causing it. Only, just had the water pump replaced and now when the coolant sensor light comes on i leak fluid fromt the back side of the motor. I need to get this checked out. Does not leek if the coolant sensor msg does not come on. Replaced the coolant tank float sensor, with no luck... haven't changed the coolant temp sensor yet, BUT... I found the following link/thread about it. I haven't gone through all the suggested process yet, but the guy posting the answer suggests this is all no more than a bad solder joint on the circuit board in the Vehicle Information CEnter (VIC) where the wiring for the coolant tank sensor wiring connects to it. For what it's worth, here's that link! Good luck! http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/coolant-sensor-bad-fin... Flag This | Was this helpful? 0 (0 votes)
