What is your question?
My Jeep has been shutting off while driving in town, and also happened once while on the freeway. Sometimes it'll start right back up. but mostly I have to turn it over a few times to get it going. It will run fine for about a month or so, then it starts acting up again, usually about 4 to 5 times a week. I don't have any paperwork from the shop I took it too with me, as the Jeep is at my son's house with all of that in there. Now, the ABS light keeps turning on & I was told I need to replace something with the computer system in there. The shutting off problem has been going on about 3 years, off and on. I've had several shops take a look at it, and say they fixed it, but it never does. Any suggestions? Thank you :) Julie

Your local Jeep dealership can install a "Co-Pilot" (deposit is usually required). As you drive around you press the button on the Co-pilot when the vehcle acts up or stalls and it will record the data of what was happening with the vehicle at the time. This data will be downloaded into the dealership diagnostic computer and the technician can look to see what sensor may have dropped out or acted erratically. They can then inspect either the part and wiring and hopefully fix it right. As for your ABS lamp on, it may be as simple as a dirty or failed wheel speed sensor. Without knowing what code is stored in the computer, I cannot guess what it might be. CONTROLLER ANTILOCK BRAKES (CAB) is mounted to the HCU and operates the ABS system Controller Antilock Brakes separate from other vehicle electrical circuits. The CAB contains a self check program that illuminates the ABS warning light when a system fault is detected. Faults are stored in a diagnostic program memory and are accessible with the DRB scan tool. ABS faults remain in memory until cleared, or until after the vehicle is started approximately 50 times. Stored faults are not erased if the battery is disconnected.
Thank you for your response, Johnny. I printed it out and will take it along to the mechanic...You gave a lot of great information & I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I hate to park the Jeep for good!!!
