Your description sounds more like a driveline vibration than a transmission shifting problem. This is a somewhat common complaint on the Compass. Often we have seen the rear differential mounting bushings wear to allow excessive movement of the differential causing the vibration. Although 60000 miles is a little early for this to happen.
