I will be driving on a real hot day and my car engine will shut down, I wait a few mins. and I start it up and its okay. Why is that?

I drive my car on a hot day some times it just shuts down the engine but on cool or cold days its fine. Why would cause this.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Its worse when the engine is hot.
