What is your question?
My 2008 Jeep Compass only has 52 thousand miles on it. I never drive my car on the expressway, only on the streets. I'm a Senior that drives my Jeep Compass slowly. My transmission doesn't change gears, I've taken my car to a mechanic shop and they said that I need a new transmission! But I honestly think that the problem can be something less serious. Last year, my Jeep Compass would only go reverse and if I had taken it to the mechanic shop, they would also have said then, that I needed a new transmission! But all it required was an $8.00 shift bearing. Please! I can't afford a new transmission and I know that my car doesn't require one at this time! Does anyone have the slightest idea, why my Jeep Compass doesn't change gears, besides replacing the transmission! Could it be something with the computer system? I would truly appreciate your advice! Thank you!

With mileage that low I would agree it seems unlikely that it needs a transmission, but anything is possible. There are lots of potential causes for why a transmission won't shift from failed control solenoids to faulty computer operation. I'd suggest getting a second opinion from a reputable shop that understands how that system is designed and functions. Good luck!
