What is your question?
Bought the jeep in April of 2018 knowing it had 191000 miles on it, but knew that 400,000 miles is not out of line. Ran like a new SUV, so I bought it for $4000. The engine was well taken care for and clean as a whistle......no problems. One month ago, I loaned the Jeep to my son to help his girlfriend move and he called me telling me of rough idling and slow speed. He took it to a mechanic who changed the plugs, but still no compression in #8 cylinder. I drove another car to his house and met with the mechanic. I paid him for the plugs and drove the SUV home 20 miles away. Made an appointment with my mechanic and he kept the SUV for 3 1/2 days while running computer tests. He said he put a camera into #8 and saw metal shavings and said he couldn't fix it. He suggested buying a used engine and having it installed at a garage he recommended. I checked around and found a used engine for $1350 and a cost of $2000 to install it. A warranty also. That's $3350+ and I am 79 years.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing....it's all the same. Starts fine and runs up to 20mph
How long has your 2006 Jeep Commander had this problem?
