key fob starts car remotley, engine stops when brake depressed

push button start works fine in my 2018 cherokee but if I try remote start , engine stops when brake depressed. Can't even hit start button to fully engage engine. I have new battery in car and recently replaced battery in remote. My wifes' key fob works the same way
