What is your question?
I tried to start the car and only heard a click. After some research, it seemed like it was the starter. Replaced the starter, now it will crank but not start. It will sound like its close at times, but ultimately nothing. What should I check next? I thought maybe ignition switch, but will it crank with a bad ignition switch?
What makes this problem better or worse?
nothing
How long has your 2016 Jeep Cherokee had this problem?

Hello, the click no start does sound like a starter motor concern, although testing would be needed to verify. Now that it is cranking -- it sounds like the starter motor concern has been resolved. You are now looking at non starting system issues - but instead engine performance issues. Spark, fuel, air are all needed to start the vehicle. I am somewhat surprised and am wondering about any other pieces to the story to learn if there is some other cause to the starter motor and no start concern? Any physical damage or significant thing occur? I would be checking for fuel pressure at the proper amount, igntiion spark and the appropriate air getting into the intake manifold at the time you are attempting to start the vehicle. Also, seeing you have had this concern for 6 months? Which part of the concern? The whole thing? It hasn't been an ongoing issue since October, it happened in October and took me time to research and figure out how to change the starter on this thing, which is no small feat. I will add that it started once, I rolled it off the ramps and it immediately died. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I put the key in and its relatively new. IT has new new spark plugs and ignition coils, and replaced all the gaskets on the intake manifold when I changed it all out. The only other thing I can think about at this point is when I took the manifold out the first time I broke one of the connectors on the VVA that sits inside the engine and connects to the fuel injectors. That has been replaced, but I am wondering if that could be the issue? After I replaced this was actually the only time it started and died since October.
