The heater direction switch is stuck on defrost will not change when turned

When I turn indicator switch to floor or vents the heater stays on defrost no matter where you change it to at one time you could hear vacuum noise but would addventually change but now it doesn’t change at all it just stuck on defrost. So when I change switch indicator to floor or vent’s it just stays on defrosters, like I said at one time it took a few minutes to change and you would hear like a vacuum sound and it would finally turn to floor or vents but over time it wouldn’t change at all I’m hoping someone out there has the answer to this problem any help would be much appreciated. I kinda wonder if it’s the switch or maybe a vacuum leek but I don’t hear any vacuum sounds now like I did before. Can anyone help with this problem please give me input on what wrong.
