I have a 2000 RHD Jeep Cherokee ES mail Jeep. It won’t go into reverse but will go into drive and works just fine. I can put it in 4 high and it will go backwards for about 10 feet and then it quits. What’s the deal with the transmission? Is it shot or can it be fixed?

Sounds like something mechanical is going on. It really is impossible to say without inspecting it and performing the needed testing to verify all electronic components are functioning as they should be, not to mention transfer case operation.
