got a new used car was fine nice hot air then all of a sudden the thermostat gauge shot up, and the car will not stop overheating! boyfriend replaced the thermostat and noticed the radiator isnt moving any fluids and is an orangish color fluid inside. blowing cold air in place of hot air.. what could this be, the radiator needs replaced? as far as i can see its not leaking..

Are you saying that the coolant is rusty or that the coolant is the newer orange colored type? If it's rusty, you should be able to tell, and if it's the orange type it should be transparent and orange instead of the older green type. I'm suspicious that you're seeing rust and the the water pump impeller has rusted away, therefore not circulatiing coolant, causing the engine to overheat and the heater ot blow cold. These jeeps are prone to plugging of the radiator (especially if it's full of rust) and the fan clutches tend to fail. You may need to see a Jeep specialist for an opinion. this is tricky first you need to see if the heater works on that particular vehicle the heater core helps cool the motor. If all the cooling sytem items check ok then you need to fill the cooling system correctly. You will need to take off a heater hose while you fill it an let fluid run out the hose an put it back on while fluid is still running out of the hose . then finish filling the resovoir tank. It sound like you have a air pocket in the cooling sytem and it is causing the water pump to air lock an making the motor get hot. an when it picks the coolant back up it cools back down .
alhough im not quite sure how an air bubble got in there or why it happened now, your method seems to have worked. flushed everything out then did exactly what you said and it all seems to be workin fine now! thank you, almost bought a new radiator and that woulda hurt the pockets.
