What is your question?
This quitting problem occures so often, I have quit driving it. But it starts and will run, with no problem, up to an hour and fifteen min, with out moving. At which time, I will turn it off and restart immediately, with no problem. New starter and new batt. Was replaced recently. This problem, quitting while running and no restart, started after the batt. And starter was replaced by a very good macanic. He checked out mr car last week and could find nothing wrong. Even with a computer attached? I decided to park it at home. Yesterday I drove it around the corner to the same macanic, who charged me nothing the week before. It is now being checked again. He said, yesterday, he will try again to solve my problem? Thank you, Giles
What makes this problem better or worse?

How long has your 1998 Jeep Cherokee had this problem?
For a month

If you haven't fixed it yet replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor. My 1998 Jeep Cherokee would suddenly lose power and regain from split seconds to seconds at a time. Replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor was the fix.
