I parked my cherokee 98 last night. Nextday just cranks but doesnt start. Changed tne coil, CPS, pickup coil and still nothing. All fuses are ok. Checked all grounds, still nothing. The fuel pump isnt running either. Can it be the computer?
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 1998 Jeep Cherokee. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
my 97 grand Cherokee did the same thing- my local mechanic finally found the wiring to the computer had a short- you can't get the "pig tails" at dealerships now but he did find them at a salvage shop from a Dodge pkp. and he spliced them in the main wiring.
CAUTION....... there are 3 different types of computers on these Jeeps so be sure you match then to the correct one,
hope this helps.
I finally got to start the engine. It was the crank position sensor, it came factory defected. I have a friend that haves the same model cherokee and gave me a cps he had in his back yard and I installed it and it started. Finally. Thanxs for advice.
