What is your question?
When I try to put it down there is a fairly loud click from where the relays are in the trunk. When i push the button the other way, there is a slight click but much softer and it seems to come from same spot. Quarter windows work fine.

Hello, It sounds like the relays are energizing on request so that is good. I'd consider the power retractable roof motor. Test the motor and the circuit, including fuses. Make sure the circuit has proper voltage when the raise/lower buttons are pressed in all 4 combinations. Let me know what you find.
Thank you sooo much for your response. I've checked EVERY fuse on the car I think:). How do I check the circuit and the voltage and I don't know what you mean by all 4 combinations. Thanks again. At least I'm feeling somewhat encouraged:). Fred
Hello, No problem, the 4 combinations is checking the wiring for the motor for voltage while the switch is in both positions, plus, with the connector connected, check that the motor is getting power when the button is in both positions. To test the circuit, simply look for voltage at the places I just mentioned. You should be somewhere around 12 - 14 volts. If you dip below, recharge the battery.
Thought you'd get a kick out of the latest results. Since your last email, I have done a little checking and looking but have made no electrical checks on anything. I just drove the car the last few days. I had tried to put the top down probably 20 times with no results except that the quarter windows would go up and down. Today I drove to the supermarket and decided to give it a try. The top went down immediately:)! Drove home, parked the car for a couple hours, went to put the top up and nothing. Quarter windows would go up and down but top doesn't move. I think I mentioned that I took all 3 switches apart and cleaned them all. That fixed the passenger window but did nothing for the top until this afternoon. If there is not enough voltage to start the top motor, could that be a problem, or not because of the way it's acting? My only thought is to take the top switch apart again and make sure it's making total contact. Any thoughts? Thanks again.
I think the switch is a good place to look first. You have an intermittent open circuit somewhere in that system. It may be in the motor, but chances are it is not, so don't blame it just yet. The switch may very well contain the open because it is faulty and not closing the circuit. You'll have to test it for continuity when pressed and not. A test light is an good tool for the job. If that turns out good, test the motor independently of the system. If it tests well multiple times in both directions then you'll need to start shaking wires until you can make it fail or fixed by moving something a certain way. This will not be the most fun, but it shouldn't take too long to find the problem either.
It started working the other day and has continued to work. If I remember correctly, I think I cleaned the roof switch one more time and I think that may have done the trick. Thanks so much for your continued help. Fred Now 3/10/17, top still works sometimes but I never know when it will go up or down. When it won't go down, the rear windows go down right a way but top doesn't move. When I put the rear windows back up, it takes the 8 second delay, and then they go up. Now can't get the top to budge.
