Hello, That is likely a broken spring, or contamination around the ratcheting mechanism causing it not to click in/lock. Remove the cover for the parking brake, and you will be able to see what is going on, and if you can fix it with a little lubrication. Let me know if you have further questions on this. It may be a fun little DIY project for you.
