When engine is cold, the engine cuts out at 3000 rpm when shifting manual transmission. When engine is hot, no problem Car runs well when engine is hot, but manually shifting when engine is cold causes engine cut out at 3000 rpm. Shifting at or below 2900 avoids the problem

Please clarify - automatic or manual transmission in this vehicle? If manual transmission, it would seem to me that an "open loop" engine processor is de-tuning the vehicle at 3,000 RPM based on data it's seeing. You'd have to have diagnostic equipment hooked up during failure to validate this.
