My 2002 Jag 4.0 V8 S type has been sitting under carport covered since Nov with a a 1.5 amp battery charger on it. When I started it it fired rightover no hesitation so I took it out for a ride and noticed the Lamp indicator was on. Do you have any ideas?

Hello, and yes, I do. The trunk latch mechanism has the sensor attached for the trunk ajar light. Might as well call it the "Boot" ajar warning light. When the wiring for this switch, the switch itself, or the instrment custer has an error, this light can illuminate at all times. The switch should have 12 volts across with the trunk open, and 0 volts across with the trunk closed. If this is the case, the connector may be dirty, the switch may be bad, or the instrument cluster is faulty. Jaguars are known for their electrical issues, but they seemed to have improved when Ford bought them in 2000. I would suspect the switch first. Testing before replacing saves resources.
