put new thermostat in because of no heat.still no heat now car over heats.

Classic example of needing to purge the air out of the cooling system after a thermostat (or any other cooling system) work. Get the engine hot, release (CAREFULLY AND USING PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT) the coolant cap, allow air and coolant to come out, top off coolant, tighten, get engine hot again, do the same thing until all the air is purged...and you will have your heat back and no further overheating.
