The valves on this engine are non-adjustable, they use hydraulic lifters not mechanical lifters. So about the only thing that you can do is to replace the lifters, which isn't that hard really. BUT you will need to know how to deal with the camshafts and timing belt.

Hi Bobby, I had suggested using the oil additive Risolene it's detergancy helps clean the lifters but I have seen a lot of those engines with "lifter" problems.
