This engine uses hydraulic lifters and they do "gum up" and make noise. Engines with hydraulic lifters need to have oil changes at the recommended intervals to keep the oil clean and fresh and the correct weight or viscosity of engine oil . A small bit of dirt or sludge can "gum" up the lifters and cause the oil not to properly adjust valve clearances. Sometimes this noise goes away after initial start up or after the engine warms up. If it is as simple as "lifter noise" try adding an oil additive called Risolene, it is a low viscosity high detergency oil additive that helps clean lifters.
It is due to the slave for the lifter has worn a grove on the camshaft and you can not a just, only replace the cam
thank,s some one gave the truck to me, an i,m an old mechanic from old school small block chevy day,s wasn,t sure what the nose was, what else can it be ?? i,m familier with hydraulic lifter,s can i make just a small adjustment ?? or not, ?? if that stuff doesn,t work?? i,ll try the risolene first an fresh oil the way it is, is the way i got it, just try-n- to get the engine quite, thank,s again.
