suv, makes a weird noise when attempting to start

What is your question?

Hearing a weird noise when I turn the motor over and the motor turns but then stop. so I repeated the process 3 more times and the same thing happens. acts like it is gone start then just stops. sounds like something starts turning, but then gets stuck and it has killed my battery instantly when it shut off on the highway while I was driving, had to get a tow home and I then tried to get it running but no luck just this problem.

What makes this problem better or worse?

A weak battery.
