Vehicle: 2011 Infinity QX56 Problem: the vehicle no longer starts with the initial push of the start button. It now takes two pushes, with a mandatory pause between the first and second push. The vehicle is coming up on 155,000 miles. A diagnostic was run on the vehicle (at a non Infinity service center) and nothing was found. The check engine light has not illuminated. With the symptoms as they are and the possibility existing of being stranded due to a malfunctioning starter but knowing that a definitive diagnosis has not been made, should I replace the starter?

Hello, you could have a start stop button concern, a key fob concern or a starter motor concern. I would not guess at anything - I would work to confirm the cause of failure. For example - if you are checking starter motor draw when pushing the start stop button -- and there isn't any -- then the problem is before the starter motor. "A diagnostic was run" - meaning what? Someone duplicated the concern and performed needed circuit testing? Or someone "pulled codes"? You need a real assessment by an experienced, skilled technician who will work to solve your concern.
