1997 Infinity QX4. Air goes to floor - Feet. Will not go to vents. Selector is push buttons. It is not the blend door. It is not stuck on defrost. AC & heat work- just only at the feet.
How long has your 1997 INFINITI QX4 had this problem?
More than a month

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If heat and AC both work but air is stuck blowing only to the floor vents regardless of what you select, the issue is likely with the mode door actuator rather than the blend door. The mode door is what directs airflow between the floor, dash vents, and defrost and if that actuator has failed or the door itself is stuck it would explain exactly what you're experiencing. On a vehicle this age the vacuum lines that control the mode doors are also worth inspecting since cracked or disconnected vacuum hoses are a very common cause of airflow getting stuck in one position on older Infiniti and Nissan products. Visit RepairPal.com to find a trusted shop that can dig into the HVAC system and get the air blowing where you actually want it!
