Is it my filter or mass flow air sensor

Hello, your concern is probably not related to either your "filter" or mass air flow sensor. However, testing is required to find out what is happening. Fuel delivery, air intake, ignition spark, exhaust flow, ignition timing and engine compression have to all be in proper operating condition to provide proper running of an engine. Yes, you could have an air flow restriction preventing air flow, or an air flow leak allowing too much air. Too hard to know until hands on testing is performed.
