My 2000 infiniti i30 overheated and lots of white smoke came from under the hood as well. When the car finally cooled down i went to check under the hood & noticed that the top heater hose (I believe its the inward hose, im not sure but its definitley the top hose) wasnt clamped down to anything, so im assuming the hose swelled and bursted. I went & purchased a new heater hose connector as well as a quick disconnector kit (5/8 x 3/4), only problem now is i cant figure out where im supposed to put the new connector at & how im supposed to disconnect the old connector. Back in up a bit when the hose bursted a piece remained in the hose & then all that was left on the firewall was a little piece sticking out of black bullseye thingy on firewall, maybe about 1" long. The 1" piece that remained on bullseye thing crumbles just like piece stuck in hose. Looks 2 b as though both pieces together were once 1 whole piece initially it just snapped over time. Normal wear n tare. Thank u in advance!
What makes this problem better or worse?
When I turn her on & immediately start driving it takes her awhile to warm up which means i have more time to drive before she overheats. If i sit and let her warm up first, by the time i start driving she over heats faster cuz she is already in the middle at regular temp so I dont have as much time as i would if i just immediately started driving. My coolant resevior is normal, but my radiator is always empty now.
How long has your 2000 INFINITI I30 had this problem?
About a week. For the most part I just let her rest and dont drive her if ots not absolutely necessary & when I do have to drive her its never for long distance or on freeway. Its always somewhere really close. I dont want to risk making the problem worse & I dont want 2 chance getting stranded. She gets ne there and gets me back home without severe overheating. She honestly drives fairly normal for the short distances I drive her, the main problem is my heater doesn't blowout hot air at all only cold air. The blower motor still blows air through vents its just not hot air so im freezing ! It also doesn't defrost any of my windows. So its really hard to see at night or in the rain. Windows fog back up after wiping really fast. I also smell coolant outside coming from hood not inside! Passenger floor is a little wet. Not drenched. When I try 2 turn on heater inhear a gurgling noise. And if I try to keep it on i smell a weird faint smell of burning wires maybe & my eyes begin to burn so I hurry to shut it off. Pretty dangerous and extremely uncomfortable & cold!

Hello, don't drive the car until you repair it, or you will damage the vehicle further. It sounds -- without seeing it -- like the heater core has fractured at the inlet pipe. This would require replacement of the heater core. This is not a "do it yourself" job -- seek local professional guidance. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
