Infinity 2000, Diagnostic code P1320 - What does Ignition Signal-Primary mean?
the ignition is made up of two parts, "primary and secondary" the primary is the twelve volt part, it has power and ground from the vehicle battery. the secondary is the high voltage that goes to the spark plugs. anything that affects battery voltage going thru the coil{s} can set this code. first step obviously would be to check the vehicle battery, then to check the wires that go to each coil for voltage and ground. next step depends on how the code sets, clear the code, see how quickly it comes back, if its pretty much immediately, replace all the coils at the same time, all the coils have fired the same number of times, when one goes, the others are shortly to follow. if it takes a few times driving for the code to set, a cam or crank sensor has the possibility of setting the code.
Hi, I have the same issue. Did you receive an anser yet?
It means that most likely you have a bad ignition coil which is VERY common on the maximas. Do NOT let anyone talk you into replacing all of them. They need to determine which cylinder is misfiring and replace that 1 coil. $70 for the part
Hello, my car is also getting P1320 code (2000 Infiniti I30) replaced one bad coil (aftermarket from Autozone Hitachi), replaced all spark plugs NGK, checked the wiring, connectors' 12 volt etc. Unless any particular brand works better on coil? It takes about 5 minutes and the light comes back on with P1320. Cam or crank shaft have different code if they go bad? I wouldn't be getting P1320 for Cam or crank sensor, right? Car seems to be running fine and starts right away. Please advise
